Until I Am Ready To Die

by Baba Olutunde Olufemi

Within me your spirit will always dwell

Even if I was bounded to a thousand hells

Restrained of myself, it is against evil I rebel

Please continue to guide me so I will not fail

Since without you God I can not live

What service can I offer if I can not give

A little hope to dry a tear from an eye

This is my life until I am ready to die

This life I live with every single breathe

Is a weapon to use to fight against death

If the time shall come then let it be

Fore my spirit will kiss the world like the sea

And what has been dead shall return to life new

These things I’ll do fore my life is in you

This life I do not want, for I

This I offer to you until I am ready to die

The words that I speak are my deepest known

The air that I intake is not my own

The thoughts inside my head are not my own

This world that I exist in is not my true home

Everything that I see and that I do

Is because you live in me and I in you

Since without you father I can not live

What poems can I offer if I can not give

A little love to hush a child’s weeping cry

This is what I live for until I am ready to die
