but through the lessons of life and the guidance of God

but because of maturity and wisdom
You are not a man because you paid for dinner 
but through genuine character and growth in the word
You are not a man because you broke her down 
but because you lifted her and allowed her to lean on you without regret
You are not a man because you work 
but because you are supportive and are prepared to seek God's opportunities
You are not a man because you laid with her to be counted as another notch in your belt 
or a name in your black book but because you let go of your ego in order to understand her pain
You are not a man because you have so many others 
but because you are strong enough to focus on one
You are not a man because you complain about her to the others 
but because you let the others know they have no place in your life
You are not a man because 
but because you are not afraid to defend her to anyone who speaks ill of her
You are not a man because you planted a seed 
but because you gave nurturing despite the storm
You are not a man because she is still in your life 
but because you understand she is God's gift to you
