Joy | Boy |
Joy Boy is the pen name of Myrna Myers. She has been a member of the U.S. Army for around 20+-years through
the combination of the Reserves and Active duty. She started a career with the U.S. Army as a Reservist and after 9-11 went on Active Duty and have
always loved this avenue. She started writing her biography when she was 14-years old and lost it when she went away to basic training for the U.S. Army
while in her twenties. She thought she had a lot of information to give the world then only to find out my life had not really begun. She has been writing
poems since she was 14-years old and always enjoyed writing and putting her thoughts on paper. She attended the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC,
and further pursued a career in graphic art at George Washington University. She obtained her Baccalaureate degree part-time at night from the first
college in the U.S.A. for women from National College of Education (National-Louis University) Edison, IL. She is presently in a Masters program
and will receive it in 2004. She aspires to get her Ph.D. but she isn't sure when she will start, but says "when the timing is right and the spirit window has opened I will
pursue and obtain my Ph.D. "
She says "My desire to create poems and write my feelings on paper never stopped calling me and recently I decided to search the internet where I
can post some of my thoughts. I have found my inspirational desire for growth in touching my feelings through a pen on paper yet it is computer keys
transmitted through electrons via satellite to the Internet."
Ms. Myers is married to a wonderful husband with five children; two biological twins and two boys and one foster son. She says "Our sons are also
creative in singing and writing poetry as an expression of their hearts."
Ms. Myers goes on to add "I thank God for my mother, grandmother and sisters and brothers for teaching me Love at a early age and a
special thanks to my father who molded me to feel at lengths I would have never experienced without his presence. Further Thanks to my
husband (his family) and children for all the struggles and experiences they have labored through."
