Gwendolyn Joyce Mintz is a poet and fiction writer. She performs comedy and raises turtles for fun. She is currently writing a collection of interrelated short stories about life in a segregated Texas town, based on her grandmother's stories. "Family Man" is taken from that collection, entitled "Buzzard's Roost." She resides in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
