Mikaylah Simone

Mikaylah Simone is an emerging African American poet whose simple, yet visceral, style brings poetry back to its basics as a social art through her affirmation of cultural identity and personal redemption. After leaving Texas, New York soon became the ideal stage for her “one-woman show” of life. Out of a strong desire to transform her thoughts and experiences into art, Mikaylah’s poetry communicates consciousness and passion pertaining to her short lifetime observations of people, places, moments that have touched her and varying themes with layered meanings revealing a fresh insight on topics of politics, religion, community and the complexity of love.
