Disappearing Potential

by M. H.

He had so much potential
In a world were ones of his kind were exceptionally rare...
He could do better
Could be anything he wanted to be
We all new he was the one who could do it
His mind was smart enough
His will just not strong enough…
To pull him away from the all consuming, manipulating streets
He knew...
Knew the world was at his feet
Along with the world…he knew of the tacks and thorns
that wanted to lead to defeat
Hidden on his varying paths of acceleration
He like any prodigy child... was scared
Scared of all the eyes that would be watching
The thorns and tacks that the cause of so much dread
Turning his back to all his demurring...diminishing potential
Like it, he faded...
Faded to a world of over powering condemnation
Becoming just a number in C-Block 12...
Never again to be mentioned
