Walking in a sea of faces
I disappear into the background and observe
The vast contrast of our beauty
The immense strength of our souls
Walking in a sea of faces
I listen to our voices
Echoing through the air
Carrying the ancestral beat of the drum in our laugh
Being used for cursing instead of blessing
Walking in a sea of faces
I smell the stench of decay
Not flesh dying but my people and their love
Seeing their eyes being
Repulsed by thier own darkness
Walking in a sea of faces
I learn to blend in
Because pride is gone
And now every man is for himself
Walking in a sea of faces
I realize that I’m alone
Not because I’m physically alone
But because I am not welcomed by my own
Walking in a sea of faces
I disappear into the background to observe
The vast contrast of our beauty
The immense strength of our souls
I wonder when will we come back to ourselves
To finally become whole.
