Stand Up

by Derrick L. McFadden

You gotta stand up be a man,
make a plan, acquire some land.
You gotta be a player instead of a fan.
Stay positive and bust a hole
in negativity that surrounds us day after day.
Clear your mind from the evils that be,
and let your third eye shine bright to see the way.
Forget about $100+ shoes, and materialistic things.
Which we are quick to drop cash for to boost our self-esteem.
Instead we should utilize that third eye
to decipher the master plan.
Concentrate on the important things in life
like taking care of your loved ones and molding your children.
So that they can help break the cycle
of drug addiction, welfare, and black on black crime.
And use their mind to design, refine,
and incline the black mind.
To that state of self respect, pride,
responsibility, family values, brotherly love,
and most important respect for our black women.
