The Meeting

by Derrick L McFadden

In late 95 I step into the club scene
In her eye’s I saw a gleam
She was with her friends and her possible man
But still I took the chance
I made a gesture for her to come and dance with me
She didn’t hesitate, she moved towards the floor so gracefully
We danced to the music in which I couldn’t hear.
It was just her and me, everyone else seemed to disappear.
We had light conversation as we continued to dance.
Our eyes never straying, you can say we were in a trance.
I knew that I had found what I was looking for,
something special and so right.
I never thought this would happen to me,
but that night I found love at first sight.
With her caramel skin, dark brown eyes and natural beauty.
I knew I had to come correct with this caramel cutie.
No games no tricks.
None of that trying to be a player shit.
That isn’t me.
So all my words were spoken sincerely.
We exchanged numbers and our love for each other began.
She became my woman and I became her man.
We are still together on this very day but as husband and wife.
Loving, caring, sharing, growing, and making the best out of life.
