light, medium, dark
were all from the same African spark
no shade is better or worse
we all suffer from the same curse
of being seen as less than a woman or a man
because of our God given natural tan
too caught up on this light skin, dark skin
when will this madness come to an end
mental poisoning being injected through televisions
got us questioning and hating our complexions
can’t you see it’s preventing our unity
by outer impressions of what is beauty
creating low-esteem and self-hatred
instead of pride and love being celebrated 
it does not matter the intensity of your shade
we are still without a doubt African made….
