Birth of A Son

by DMecca7

it’s been 4 months since your arrival
it still seems to be a dream
i mean …
i feel your clutch
when I pick you up
and express unselfishly
how I love you so much
but still…
it seems…
like a dream.
my chest swells
from the pride that grows within.
when complements are made
on how you could be my twin
and old baby pictures of myself
are dug up and compared
showing uncanny resemblances
right down to the abundance of our hair
yet it’s still hard to believe
or even truly conceive
the fact,
that you are truly here..
just look at you
relaxing in my arms
staring at me
with your big eyes that are a beautiful ebony
reflecting my reflection
and my affection
that I give to you
then it hits me, a sweet epiphany
as your smile begins to shine through
spreading warmth
like sunrays in July
as the truth of your realness
unfolds right before my water filled eyes

“I call you son cause you shine like one”
