Subsequent to President Hugo Chavez's rousing oratory condemnation of the United States government in front of the United Nations professing President George W. Bush to be "el Diablo" the devil; several American Democratic politicians promptly scurried to the aid of Mr. Bush citing President Chavez as a lunatic for his blatant disregard for the Commander and Chief. However, these same politicians surely cannot simply ignore the far-reaching ramifications created within the international community over the past six years by President Bush's arrogant and ruthlessly decadent political agenda. It is a well-known fact – for all those who truly care to know, that America is greatly despised on the international stage - compliments of the Bush Administration; and that America's only real international partner may be Britain, which has also become increasingly uncomfortable with the foreign policy contempt of the United States. So therefore, I submit to you this question. What is genuine lunacy? Seeing the facts as they are, or ignoring immeasurable tangible evidence regarding the international hatred for the United States of America created by the Bush Administration's global pompousness? Now, I am not necessarily advocating nor denouncing Mr. Chavez's position; I am merely stating that the international turmoil created by many of the Bush Administration's highly self-destructive and duplicitous policies speak for themselves, and to not see them for what they are takes an exercise in deliberate folly, or as Noam Chomsky notes in his book entitled; "Hegemony or Survival"; intentional ignorance. In an opinion poll taken within many Canadian provinces, the lion's share of citizens were at a consensus that President Bush represents the greatest threat to world peace. President Bush and his perilous foreign policy came in first, consuming more than 70% percent of the poll, followed by Qaeda, and then North Korea. With most of the world community at a consensus on the self-destructive nature of the Bush Administration; why is it so difficult for so many Americans that refer to themselves as Republican, conservative or any other political designation to break through the perpetual haze and bear witness to the facts? The answer can be deciphered from a comprehensive practice within American history of molding popular opinion through a myriad of techniques and methodologies to alter the minds of the populous. Some of these include, control doctrine by means of elementary school curriculum and purported institutions of higher education, religious communities, news agencies and meticulously controlled government propaganda campaigns which has sufficiently lulled countless Americans asleep and has also effectively stripped them of their ability to fight against a massively corrupt governmental structure. This skillfully calculated system of indoctrination has similarly deprived innumerable Americans of the ability to produce independent thought, i.e., make up their own minds; and has likewise created a society driven by man-made indifference coupled with a complete loyalty regardless of the facts presented – for the most part. What's even more frightening is that while, "we the people'" will promptly ignore this wholly corrupt system; we waste no time in manifesting hostility against our fellow citizens and remain locked in a self-induced scheme of self-distraction. Albeit throughout American history innumerable governmental institutions have been designed to control popular opinion - the Bush Administration strategies surpasses them all, and remains a shrewdly devised instrument in controlling the hearts and minds of the people; and are enormously successful in what I describe as; "manufactured apathy", and creating what I refer to as the "unplugged society" which are merely concerned about their own health and welfare – and barely that! As more of the American populace bear witness to the overt display of hubris and denial of the Republican Party; it is imperative that this November the citizens of this nation vote to invoke change and terminate this perilous cycle, as well as, take back their rights which are embodied within the Declaration of Independence; which asserts; "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness".
