I Am A Black Woman

by Michelle Lester

Look at my face

Is it not dark brown

One day I hope to make it to heaven,

And get my starry crown

I don’t wear fancy clothes

Or big diamonds glittering with gold

But, I am still A Black Woman

You may laugh at me

Some people may even talk about me,

And call me all kind of names

They just don’t know

It brings me no shame!

For, I am still A Black Woman

One thing nobody can take away from me

Is the love that I have for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Who is the head of my life

So when you look at me

You will know that I am a wife, a mother and

A Beautiful Black Woman!
