Blast Off

by L.C. Johnson

         Once again it's on
       Fear of a black planet
       Certain freedoms of life
That I don't take for granted

       Gimme liberty or death
       Cuz respect is crucial
    Pledge allegiance to the Rag
But these cops will shoot you

          Racial profiling
    Got young brothers wildin'
         But in the projects
  You don't see nobody smiling

       It's a everyday struggle
       In a way we muzzled
    Don't nobody wanna hear us
Deep down they really fear us

         Was you patriotic
            Before 9-11
       Or was you just scared
       Cuz we were unprepared

         And when I say we
       I'm talking you and me
       Slavery over but still
          I don't feel free

    All the rules and regulations
       Unwritten segregation
       That still runs rampant
  Through out this whole nation

       It's a sad commentary
         But this is real life
When you war with darker shades
       And befriend the whites
