A Letter To My Daughter

by L.C. Johnson

I will track you down for years
Until the day that I die
        If I never find you
     Best believe that I tried

I got a package in the mail
      Some pictures;of you
You look like a happy child
        I hope that's true

It's been things in my life
That I wish I could change
But it's an honor to have my blood
     Flow through your veins

You remind me of your mother
      When I see you smile
    You remind me of myself
When I see seen that scowl

         Life is ajoumey
But our lifetime ain't long at all
In good times and bad times
        Always stand tall

I'm not there in the flesh
But you are in my heart
I better close this out now
    Because I'm falling apart

       To Pat and Michelle
       Take care of my girl
Keep the Lord in her life
   And she'll conquer the world

A tear trickles from my eye
         But I'll be okay
      Cuz I know we'll unite
   And bond together someday
