When I Come Home

by LaMesha L. Craft

When I come home,
Needless to say we need time alone.
I’ll hold you close to me
So I can feel your breath on my cheek.
I’ll look deep into your eyes
And wipe your tears of joy to see me.
I’ll tell you all the things my pride never let me say before
Cause life is too short, it just too short to ignore!

When I come home,
I’m gonna hug my child for a long…long…while
And enjoy the feel of that baby soft skin
Holding those lil hands, I’ve been yearning to feel.

When I get home
Mama’s home cooking is waiting for me
And with a full belly, I’ll enjoy every second
In the company of my family

When I come home
I’ll find there is no one there but ME
Hell, I might just…
Walk from room to room butt naked…
In the name of privacy!

When I get home
The words:
Family, Self, and Living
Will all have different meanings to me!

When I come home…
I’ll cherish…
The simple things!
