Going to Hell in a Handbasket |
by Lady Kea Simone |
To be going to hell in a handbasket is to be rapidly deteriorating on a course of disaster. We can sit around and talk about how it was in our day, but what does that change? I am a part of Generation X.
Generation X: People currently between the ages of 49 to 39 I'm not an advocate of abuse. Nevertheless, I must share these two stories with you because they changed my life. I thank my parents for raising me and not letting me get away with my wrong doings. The first story: In the 7th grade, I got the bright idea to go to a department store and steal some cosmetics. Not only was it wrong, but I got caught shoplifting. My parents could have taken me home and said, "What are we going to do with this girl?" Instead they took me home and beat my butt. I betcha' I haven't stole anything since then or even thought about stealing anything. The second story: I can't remember the entire conversation, but in the 10th grade, my mother was checking me about something in my bedroom, and in my brief moment of insanity, I responded, If you were not in my room............... Before I knew it, she had hit me in my mouth and I was standing there hoping I still had all of my teeth. Robert and Vicky Lee raised me. Looking back, the best thing they did for me was they took me to church and made sure I knew about God. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it." They instilled values in me. For a minute, I lost my way, but because of that strong foundation, I found my way back, just like the Bible says in Proverbs 22:6. The reason people feel like the world is going to hell in a handbasket is because people want to remove God from everything (schools, government, etc.) and wonder what is going on? It's time to wake up people! These kids are not going to raise themselves. The most important thing we need: We need to put God back into EVERYTHING. People that don't know God, we don't want to scare them away by throwing scriptures at them and telling them about all the wrong things they are doing. God is love. Like the old saying goes, "You can get more flies with honey, than with vinegar." |
