They wanted you to give up your seat because you were black
But you told them you were no longer having that
Like most black people you felt a certain disgust
At how they force our people to the back of the bus
You knew in your heart that this law was unjust
You stood for something by sitting down
Because of you we can sit where we want on the Greyhound
You were by your husbands side doing the Civil Rights Movement
Working hard so our people could see some improvement
You were always there fighting the good fight
Be it morning, noon, or night
Even when your husband was killed
You showed that you had a strong will
And you were going to continue to see that his dreams were fulfilled
