Kyus was born and raised in Miami, FL. She now resides in Pembroke Pines with her husband, and family. Kyus received her Associate Degree in General Studies from Miami Dade Community College in 1982. She continued her education at Florida International University where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. Kyus has been working in the criminal justice field for the past 25 yrs.

In 2001, Kyus released her first book, To the Heart of Things, a Chapbook of Poetry. Her first novel, Because of Love was birth from one of her narrative poems from her book of poetry. She is now working on her second novel, a sequel to Because of Love, at the request of her supporters.

There are two things Kyus want to bring to light in her writings. First, she wants to focus on issues that change her protagonist life. She wants to take issues like rape, death, teenage pregnancy or serious illnesses like cancer and place these issues in their lives. Her desire is to show strong, solid relationships (marriages, friendships, families, couples), deals with these issues after being shattered by uncontrollable events.
