Wait til I crack open this pink notebook
and spit out verses from my soul
Wait til I step to the mic
speak my truths
and drop my heart on the stage
Wait til I peel back this temporary brown flesh exterior
and expose the God in me
Wait til I open the stairway to my consciousness
and invite you to get on my level
Wait til I pull back the curtain
and begin to act out my one woman show
called life
Wait til the spotlight shines down
on this most dramatic of monologues
Wait til I stand up in protest
fighting the power that fuels all the
bullshit
Wait til my battle wounds bleed my ink
Wait til my tongue delivers verbal lashings
in Haiku
and paint pictures in your mind without ever touching a brush
Wait til I re-define EVERYTHING
Wait til you see
ME
