Power is Blackness

by Joe Dill

Power is Blackness
Blackness is Power
I put my right fist up for my people
Even through our darkest hours

They assasinated Martin Luther King
And his fight for peace still remains to be seen
They took out Malcolm
But we still trying to make BLACK POWER happen

Through our saddest moments
Our toils and snares
Black people made a bond
And like Stokely Carmichael silenced our crtitics
by putting a BLACK FIST in the air

Everytime the Olympics come we put on a show
Showing our critics to black people you can bing no harm
In the 68 Olympics when they put the gold on
Tommie Smith put a fist in the air like we shall over come

I'm proud to be black
I walk with my head in the air
I love what my ancestors did for me
To the utmost, yes I care

Power is Blackness
Blackness is Power
This is for you Stokely
I'm putting my fist in the air, even in my darkest hour
