Why I Keep a Pen in Hand

As I look into eyes that show anger,
Not danger;
Danger only comes from the stranger
It makes no sense to be so tense
We're all inside the fence
Now some folks are saying penance on their knees
I feel a breeze that only blows cold
I hope I grow old,
Because not that many do
So my crew is my family
I be who I am to me
And keep a pen in hand to expand upon thoughts
Like I'm free
But I'm caught
So I write what I see
