Fatherless

by Jeanine Gail Wilson

Fatherless
Still
Vicious
Cycle
A curse given to her from birth

Fatherless,
Still vicious cycle
One, two, three, babies in
Our black community

Dad where are you
Sick

Dad I need you, I need me too

Fatherless wanting to know my other half
Wanting my whole history
I be as a puzzle broken in pieces
Half completed

Fatherless,
Still vicious cycle
One, two, three, babies in
Our black community

Children need their fathers
Their mothers nurture and raise
Father's role, if only I know for you see
 I also am fatherless

I know my uncle is a father and he caters to my cousions every need
I know my uncle is a father and he disciplines

I wonder what my father would do?
