Tinted Windows

by John D. Evans

I was minding my own business

Glad to be heading home

And out of nowhere

Vera came

She crept up with her

Blue flashing lights

Telling me what to do

Without saying a word

I did what she told me

 I pulled my Lexus over

Slightly tinted and

Pulled halfway up

Approaching me from each side

Stay in the car

We pulled you over

Because you have tinted windows

When I bought the tint

I asked if the tints were legal

Let me see your driver’s license

And proof of insurance

Don’t get out of the car

I couldn’t believe it

All of the killing and raping,

And mugging going on

And you want me

You have me waiting

And waiting and waiting

As I play count the cars with tint

And loose count

She returns

Here are two tickets

Two tickets?

One for the tinted windows

And one for the old insurance card

But I have insurance

Tell the judge
