Is not about the living

It seems all about us, but

It has nothing to do with us

Reparations are for those who suffered

For those who were illegally captured

For those who were trapped

Trafficked, bought and sold

Beaten, maimed, raped, and murdered

For those who were bartered

For those who were enslaved

Made to call a man Master

The issue of reparations

Is not about us, the here and now

It is about our ancestors

Are they due an apology?

Are they due to be remembered?

Are they due to be honored

For surviving the storm?

For making our lives possible?

The answer is yes

At least, draft an apology

Make it honest and sincere

So that the victims
