Birthday Poem 35

by John D. Evans

Hey, hey, hey

As Fat Albert would say

Today is the big day

35 – I made

I’m grown now

No more rippin’ and

Runnin’, getting lost

In all the funin’

I’m taking life seriously

Seeing people come

And go

Rise and fall

And some rise again

A grown man now

Appreciating the freshness

Of spring

The renewing of hope

Another day

Another opportunity

My zillionth chance

To become greater

Wiser and more blessed

A grown man

With grown man responsibilities

Grown man challenges

And a gifted man’s resources

They never end

For I am a rich man

On my birthday

 A wealthy man

Because in you

I have a friend
