In the Rain

by Hott Koko

Last night I went outside and stood in the rain
to disguise any evidence of heartache and pain
because the truth lies in the eyes
and the eyes never lie
So I stood in the rain
so that you wouldn’t see me cry
You see in the rain
I can reveal all emotions and fears
feeling free of weakness
because the rain blends with my tears
In the rain
I can relax, let go, and just be
express all of myself
and not have to worry that you will see
Last night I was hurt
but the rain understood
embracing me the way
in which your arms never could
Not to say that I don’t love you
but last night I needed more
So I went outside, banished my pride
and just let the rain poor
onto my face to help replace
the tears I had already cried
and instantly all signs of despair were denied
Vanishing all insecurities, judgments, and pain
So anytime I need to cry
I just go outside
in the rain
