Cynthia Highsmith-Hooks aka Soul Sista is a poet who has been writing since the age of six. She says, "Over the years, I have accumulated a footlocker of work, most of it never read by anyone, not even my mother. I know that my work is good, but I never took the time to pursue what I consider a God-given talent. I attended college after high school, served 5 years in the military and had a family. My writing got lost in all of that. Until now."

Recently, she began to write again and have decided that "I will write for the rest of my life because it's who I am."
