Growing up in Memphis Tennessee, Joyce Oscar seems to have always had stories and rhymes in her head. This graduate of Mercer University attributes her love for words and expression to her mother, an educator in the Tennessee school system and her tenth grade Literature instructor. "I remember being introduced to poetry analysis in the tenth grade and I thought it was the cruelest thing a teacher could ever impose on a student. At the end of the school year, I couldn't thank her enough."

TJoyce believes that poetry is the measured language of emotion; it bears witness to our lives and what we have experienced. It is a celebration of language in its most illustrious, enchanting, and intense form. She also feels that poetry has the inimitable power to re-create the human experiences like falling in love, losing love, facing death and disease, losing faith and courage, and finding God. Poems transform the everyday into a creative journey through our imaginations. Joyce's new book release After Midnight: Love's Journey is filled with poems we all can relate to in one way or another. The black and white photographs combined with the quiet words take you on that visual and lyrical journey exploring different aspects of love. You can visit her online at www.agaphepublishing.com.
