All Year Round

by Fontaine

When black history month is over
It’s not too late to know
that our ancestors were kings and queens
We can’t let ignorance destroy our dreams

We won’t let the results of
Slavery lead us astray
Just look how far
African Americans have come today

We can remember Marcus Garvey,
Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday,
Of which Dianna Ross did
a great imitation of, by the way

We have too much talent
To be doing negative things
We’re creative and we
Can dance and definitely sing
