African Americans

by SistaTradea

African Americans came a long way since slavery

We can’t forget Harriet Tubman for her bravery

She led the slaves through the Underground Railroad

Martin Luther King determined to end racism

Wanted everyone to be treated equally the same

But prejudiced white men took his life

To lose a great leader

What a shame

Shirley Chisholm was the first black congresswoman

Thurgood Marshall did antidiscrimination cases

in the United States

In 1967 the first African American

to sit on the Supreme Court

Don’t judge a person by the color of their skin

But look at the person from within

Everybody is different

depending on the environment
