Harlequin Man

by Marilyn S. Ferrell

He has angel eyes.
He speaks loudly without saying a word.
He moves with distinct surety.
And he never says a word.

The man is a mystery.

He looks in this direction,
never turning away.
He's untouchable. The epitome of
manhood. The essence of power.
Yet, he never says a word.

He takes care of his business.
The world is his oyster; its constituents,
his pearls.
He's a manifestation of culture.
He's every man's envy, every woman's dream.
Still, he never says a word.

The man is a mystery.

(Suddenly) His angel eyes slowly fade.

The man wears a mask.
