Diamonds

by Marilyn Ferrell

On the forgotten past a darkness dwelt where Eden's garden once stood,
but like amnesia, it is no longer remembered,
as I climb the crystal stairways to the sanctuary of love requited.
In the sea of diamonds, beatific voices floated like prayers&ndasha litany
of imparted grace, moans unable to longer sound,
only words of exhortation enables me to keep on climbing, wounds
buried behind the wall,
free as the mare that throw their hair in the wind,
this is no ruse, I am enraptured
by the very idea of love.
