Water Under the Bridge

by Fatima Robinson

Is it true what some say,
"Experience is the best teacher"
Well, STOP to think.

Can one say a person cannot value life
and the experiences of others, so closely,
that they may not be enriched through anothers pain, sorrow, and despair?
Or, that they may not learn, so emphatically,
to not have to deal with all that Water Under
the Bridge?

I say it is possible!

For the rest of my life, I will be the youngest.
The oldest will always have the age over me,
and the experience,
in a lot of ways.

But, I thank GOD that I, being the youngest,
have learned from the oldest.

I have been blessed not to travel routes that they have been,
and although I may not have traveled their way,
I have seen things--I have watched, analyzed, and learned--
things I will never forget.

In observing, it's like a screen,
you're able to learn some lessons
without even having to go through them physically.
I learned the necessary lessons.

The oldest cannot perceive this,
because they were never the youngest;
they could not see the detour signs
and the directions they posted before me,
so I may see the right roads to take.
For they traveled too far ahead of me.

But all and all...It's just Water Under the Bridge.
