Secret Confessions

by Fatima Robinson

Gazing at the ocean waters
The rippling waves
Descending in symphony
As they hit
Against the rocks
As they brush
Along the shores

Listen to the waves_
They speak

Hear the subtle roar
Of ages
The history
Only the tides can tell
Because only they know
The many tales

Listen to the waves_

Hearken to their voices
Whistling in the breeze
Expressing
A spirit of calmness
From all the trouble
They've seen
Afflictions of long ago
Of great people
Brave and courageous
The unscrupulous
Unmerciful and cowardice

Listen to the waves_

Then, gradually
If not for a moment
Still waters
Ceases the sound
Peacefully assuring
The future
Will be all right

Listen_
For the waves speak.
