Dorothy M. Davis Dorothy is a native Philadelphian and currently resides in the area with her family. The Howard University graduate received her BS in Electrical Engineering in 1986. As a member of the Howard University track team, she achieved status as a Track All-American in the 4X 400 m relay. Dorothy is the wife of Douglas Davis and mother of three (Douglas 13, DeOliver 11, and Drew 7). Her son, Douglas Davis, is an eighth grader at Henry H. Houston Elementary School and also the illustrator of the artwork featured on the front, back and inside covers of the book. Dorothy is a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of Sisterfriends, an organization devoted to sharing sisterhood through education, volunteerism, networking and love. She is also a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of ABWA, American Business Women Association. |
In addition to raising a family and working full time as a technical writer, Dorothy is the founder of YIC (Yours in Christ) Self Publishing. She is also a poet, in her own right. Her poem "Color of Pain' was accepted for publication in the soon released book, Letters from the Soul.
Her first novel, Frostbitten was inspired by many of the trials and tribulations she encountered as a young black professional, professing Christianity. This fictional story depicts the life of a young black female who transitions into 'Corporate America' from the confines of a familiar and comfortable ethnic and socio-economic background. The setting takes place in the late 1980's and bounces between Philly and suburban Detroit.
