Life experiences do take their toll
Look into a man's eyes and you could peep into his soul
In the eyes of many you see emptiness
being penniless doesn't help I guess
not to talk of the aspirations stripped of them streak by streak
leaving them lonely and with a future that seems bleak
a boy/girl is thought to dream dreams
but not how to be ready if things go wrong it seems
shouldn't a man be told before he grows old
that life could be a bed of roses or thorns?
So that he becomes rooted on solid grounds
and a light wind of failure doesn't knock him down I wonder
May be we need to realise our mistakes
and begin to teach our young ones
what it takes for the battle of life to be won
It takes courage not dreams alone,
it takes determination,
it takes patience to hold on
even when it seems like you've waited too long,
It takes love of one's self and the people around,
It takes knowledge, it takes strength
and most of all it takes leaning on the everlasting arms
that gives the zeal to carry on in the mist of a past
dominated by shattered dreams
