It Is Finished

by Poetrymama

I am led away as you deny me
three times before the crow
sound
you turn away from me

Told to confess but I give them
silence
brought before my people who shout
" Kill Him! Crucify Him"
still nothing I said

Crucifixion granted as I am led to
a place outside of town called Skull
as I carry my cross of death

I am stripped of my clothes and beaten
nailed to the cross as my Mother, Aunt
and a loyal disciple look on as they
weep

The soldiers took my clothes and split
them four ways so each would have a piece
of my garment

My robe was made of one piece from top
to bottom which they didn't rip but threw
dice and the winner got my robe

Sun beaming down as it was draining my soul
I looked to my right
there were my Mother, Aunt and a loyal
disciple to the end

I said to my Mother " This is your Son"
I said to the Disciple " This is your Mother"
I said to the Soldiers " I am Thirsty"

They used a sponge soaked in vinegar on a
hyssop stick and held it to my mouth after
taking it
I said " It Is Finished"
I bowed my head and died still with undying
Love inside
