With laws constructed that separated
men whole from three fifths of a man
You call yourself patriotic
Patri…who? I don't understand!
When war broke out
and the North was in danger
of being severed from the South
Where did you look for the extra clout
to protect the Union
our founding fathers
so passionately wrote about?
When terrorists hooded
themselves in the South
Did you not feel my pain
or hear me cry out?
I called out for those
who fought by my side,
with my father and my uncle
for this country's pride
Where is your patriotism now,
when its my children
who need to be healed?
Did you leave it in Gettysburg
on its battlefield?
How can you honor in your heart
what you know to be a lie?
In your preamble,
did you constitute my cry?
Emancipate my sorrow? Or ratify a lie?
Yet you call yourself patriotic, Patri…who?
I don't understand, why!
