Never Say

by Sharon Thomas-Cash

Lovers never say never
How long does it last? A past
As long as there is the memory of a touch
Of smooth black skin next to mine
Of brown eyes that see right through me
The memories create a lonely melody in my heart
How long does it last? A past
As long as I am able to look into small brown
Eyes that mirror yours, as long as my breast
Still rise at the thought of your lips
How long ? It won’t slip away quietly
It fights to stay alive in my heart
I see my head on your chest
I see your face looking at me
It’s funny, lovers when they are apart
Only know what they are missing.
