Mr. Ness

by Sharon Thomas-Cash

So Mr. Ness...I would confess
Did you really think, that with a blink
of those baby browns
I'd let myself be turned around
That when you flashed that perfect smile
It would never ever make my heart go wild
But not too close, or we won't see
Just what it is that makes us be
Sometimes I see you standing 6 feet tall
Even at those times when you're not standing at all
Seeing you, around the corner, waiting just for me
Or... maybe she's waiting around the corner
wondering where you'll be
Tall, dark, complicated, mean Mr. Ness
Sometimes you're the worse and sometimes you're the best
No other man walks in your shoes
No other man makes your moves
At times it seems you just can't lose
One of your best choices was not to choose
was not to use
See me turn around and do an about face
You know where to find me, I'll be at his place
