Color My Words

by Sharon Thomas Cash

What color are the words we speak into the air?
What color are tears? Is there a color for fear?
Words spoken in anger, are they deep dark and red?
Are our thoughts colored words inside our heads?
Is truth the color of blue? Like when you say I love you.
Do you suppose black is the color of a big bold lie
Unlike the words spoken when we tell a little white lie
Laughter could be the color of a rainbow bright
while sadness is as gray as the shadow of night
We shout, holler and whisper using our voice
Do you suppose these colors are by choice?
Is envy really green?
Is hate black and blue?
Are the colors the same for me as for you?
What color would your words be
If you could choose what others see
Well I like pink, so what do you think?
