Turmoil

by Carmen

Shallow, haggard with just a hint of a smile
tired and lonely, footsteps stretched on for miles
anger and hatred replaced now with tears
and the anguish for not seeing his hurt through his fears
love was revealed by a word, by a kiss
too late though you found the joy that you missed
now lost for death claimed but not forever so
on a whisper from the wind, tears ceases to flow.
