brown,
almond,
black n' blue
these are the colors that once was you
chocolate,
yellow,
mocha and blood red
these are the colors of those who fought and now dead
come fall
u can see them in the trees
u can see them on the leaves
singing forgetmenots to the youth
in hopes they keep the truth
until they return
in the spring
pretty brown women
mocha chocolate men
long nights upon the slave ships
tied to trees feelin the mastas whips
giving their colors to the trees
with their tears at ease
along with silent pleas
to their ancestors in shades of
earth
it was down by the river side not far
from the tree of life
by shades of darkness
where noone can see your color
scream;
"I AM FLESH" it says "MANY TONES OF EARTH"
"NO BLOOD CAN CHANGE MY HUE"
'NOT EVEN YOU, MISTA WHIP"
tall drk n handsome
fine brown frame
light bright and damn near white
you know were all the same
africans to americans
