Black Men Dont Cry

by Carlos F. Carter

black men dont cry
why should i lie bout
something so sacred
and pure
the reason, no cure for
years of oppression
we learned our lesson
to keep it inside
and to hold on to pride
and let it ride jack let it ride
on the black hand side
give me five
for we strived to stay alive all these years
not shedding tears for fears
of the unknow massah
makin us work faster and faster
to build a better country for his ease
ahhawwww shit!, man please,
i wont get down on my knees
beggin please, please, please
my honors not that dead
no, my emotions will go unfed
by tears shed to the public eye
shit! i'd rather die that be a punk
and give in to a blue funk about
nothin but a sign of weakness
come on my brothas peep this theory
why get all dreary over dumb shit
we pack our bags and split fo
we let em see us sweat
don't pass no tissue to me yet
i'll get by on drugs, booze and sex
and let my emotions manifest
in emptiness and stress
then we'll see whats best for the
black may to try
do or die we still wont cry
till the day we die in our mothers arms
or when we hear the cry of Gabriels horn
callin us home. (sniff!)
