Two Old Ladies

by Carlos F. Carter

two old ladies were standing on the corner
wondering what they could do with the world.

on lady said, "let's put it in a jar and make some jam and spread it on
some toast and make it sweet."

the other lady said, "put it in the washer and ring it thru the rollers,
hang it on the line and make sure it's clean."

two old ladies sat together one day dreaming of a world they hope to
live to see, a world sweet as jam and as clean as fresh laundry.
