The day you came over I could not say a word
I felt suspended in time in total disbelief
You questioned if I knew you, with a puzzled look on your face
My heart was screaming yes, but my mouth did not respond at the same pace
You came toward me and gently held my hand
I looked at your face and said you look just like your father man
You smiled, then turned and walked away
Confused and dismayed I did not know what to say
As that day past my mind kept playing that scene
I am wondering what just happened and what did it all mean
With the image of your face all in my head
I tossed and turned all night as I lay in bed
When morning came I'm still wrestling with my thoughts
Taking inventory of my feelings and all my faults
So I hoped genuinely that you would come back by
So we could talk for a few minutes because you know I am not shy
You did, and it was a wonderful second meeting
I wanted to kiss you but a hug was my greeting
I simply concluded you would be my friend forever
Always connected by the past
