Camille McKenzie-Lane is a 37 year-old single mother living in East Orange, NJ, with a wonderful 11 year-old boy named Brendan. She has been writing poetry since she was 15 years old and had her first poem published in 1996. She states,

"As a young lady, my pen and paper became a listening ear that heard all I had to say without rebuttal, judgment or criticism. I found it easier as time went on to speak in depth about: thoughts, perceptions, fears, doubts, shame and or brokenness openly and honestly through the art of poetry. Over the years after becoming a Timbooktu contributor, I've also achieved numerous editors' choice awards from other organizations for my work. My aim as I get more mature is to inspire, motivate and be that one person whom anyone can relate to when they're going through a similar situation. With that said, poetry is my outlet to vent. I love the spoken and written word for I find it very inspiring, thought provoking and utterly therapeutic."

You can contact Ms. McKenzie-Lane via e-mail at or by sending an e-mail to TimBookTu and it will be forwarded.
