Brothers of Labor

by Butterfly

Messengers in sweat reminding me
of home
the guys that did it
got into it
became it
to make it

The old guys. . .
knowing the vibes
the classics
the rewinds of life

They tell the younger brothas who refuse
to-- "listen to an ol' man"
. . .the old guys just watch them play
the same ol' tunes
til they've been played
then. . . they sit have a beer
listen and understand

brothas in suits--ouch--

brothas
dressed in pheromones
every walk every stride
every casual turn or
sliding hand down
lips and chin

there's not a one
time hasn't taken
placed in a corner
up against a wall
in the barracks of his brain
for the crime of his soul
to do it get into it become it
to make it

               - a Butterfly's opinion -
