MLK Day 2015

by J R Brink

Thank you Dr. King for giving your words, thoughts,
and life to awakening our consciousness
that would set us free—from mental slavery and ethical blindness.

Where else in the world could you find this?
He gave us something to live for,
He gave us something to die for,
Something to show us how it can be
to peacefully—RESIST—this cultural construct turned historical catastrophe.
Tell me why U.S.A., America, why are we still living like it’s closer to 1963?

A way to achieve the equality that we foresee is through LOVE, PEACE, and GENEROSITY.
We have to CHANGE ourselves before anyone else.
We are just humans, often with an inhumane ideology.
We must be the change we wish to see,
To pass it on and set the world FREE from primitive idiosyncrasies.

We are ALL equal regardless of skin color, dress, or lifestyle choice.
This is the time that we must raise up OUR voice!

We CAN overcome and WILL overcome.

BUT one question to all still living in 2015,
to reach this new paradigm, this new construct,
What have or will you have done?
